Whereas in Bariatric surgery the digestive path is being altered resulting in the Weight loss with
improvement of co morbidities.
The results achieved with the Bariatric surgery is generally long term.

Myth: I won’t be able to eat after Bariatric Surgery
Reality: Most of the patients can and do eat once they recover from surgery.
They are encouraged to eat small portions of the Healthy diet.

Myth: I will have weakness after Bariatric Surgery

feel more energetic & get inclined to live more active life

After Weight loss surgery – Plastic surgery is required
Reality: Generally, any method opted for weight loss (Diet/ exercise/ endoscopy/ bariatric surgery) will
results in loose skin & may require correction.
One can minimize this problem with proper protein intake, hydration and good toning of muscles.

Myth: Endoscopic procedures (Balloon, ESG etc.) is better than Weight loss surgery
Reality: In present scenario there are two options available in Endoscopic procedure 1. Gastric Balloon &
2. Sleeve gastroplasty.
The Weight loss with the Endoscopic procedures are neither good nor long lasting as Bariatric
surgery.
The Endoscopic procedure is advised when the weight loss requirement is lesser or for the patient unfit

Reality: Obesity is one of the causes for Hormonal imbalance, PCOD and infertility.
Thus losing weight is a big hope for its solution. Even the gynecologists advice their patients to lose
weight as the success rate improves.
After Bariatric surgery (2nd year onwards), the patient can plan the pregnancy.
